When this photo was snapped by NASA Astronaut Dr. Edward Lu from the International Space Station (Expedition 7) on September 13, 2003, Hurricane Isabel was a Category 4 hurricane "packing winds of 150 miles per hour with gusts up to 184 miles per hour." The photo impressed NASA: "No other sensor images the eyewalls of hurricane with such detail."
